About this course
Wu Ji Quan is the inner core teaching of the Shaolin tradition, and among the oldest of the internal martial arts. Its history reaches back more than three thousand years, and it was drawn into the monastic Shaolin tradition by Bodhidharma (Da-Mo), the first patriarch of Chan Buddhism. Its effect on both body and mind made it a cornerstone for the cultivation of inner essence, for meditation, and for martial practice alike.
The term Wu Ji translates as primordial emptiness, or ultimate potential — a concept of real significance within Chinese philosophy and the I Ching. This course teaches the art in the lineage of Grandmaster Chee Kim Thong, with the aim of preserving a rare tradition and ensuring its transmission to future generations.
Under the guidance of Dr. Ortwin Lüers, the course offers a comprehensive exploration of Wu Ji Quan, suited to both beginners and experienced practitioners. It covers the forms and their principles, the integration of Yin and Yang, breath awareness and flow, the practical application of the techniques, and the historical and philosophical context that gives the art its depth.
