About this course

Meditation is an inner art, and this free, comprehensive program lays out a step-by-step path through it — a practice both ancient and timeless. It begins at the beginning, with the correct sitting postures, and progresses toward the profound states that sustained practice can reach, including Nimitta and the Jhanas.

The instruction is straightforward and direct. The obstacles a practitioner is likely to meet, and the means of working through them, are discussed in detail, so that understanding develops experientially rather than only intellectually. This is where meditation does its real work: in changing your relationship to the thoughts and emotions that arise, so that you are no longer caught and controlled by them, and in cultivating loving kindness toward yourself and those around you.

Meditation, as taught here, is not about stopping thought or emptying the mind. It is about meeting what arises from a place of wisdom — not controlling the waves of experience, but learning to ride them skillfully.

The program runs to more than fourteen hours and is designed for all levels, from complete beginners to advanced practitioners. It asks only for a willingness to dedicate some time and effort.

The practices taught in this course are provided for educational and informational purposes only. While meditation may support general well-being, no medical claims or guarantees of results are made, and it is not a substitute for professional medical or mental health care. If you have a pre-existing physical or mental health condition, consult a qualified professional before beginning. By taking part in the practices shown, you acknowledge that you do so voluntarily and entirely at your own risk.
